FAQ

Q.    Do I have to be present for all classes?
A.    No.  If you cannot attend you may purchase a CD of the class session and listen to it independently.  All classes and reading must be completed before credit is awarded, and is due in the ECBI office no later than seven days after the last class session.

Q.    I sometimes must work until 6:00 or later, may I still take a course?
A.    Yes.  You may still attend by getting to class as soon as possible.  However, you must purchase the CD of the missed session(s) and listen to the teaching if the instructor feels you are missing too much instruction.

Q.    May I take classes at home?
A.    Yes.  You may purchase the CD and textbook for home study.  Tuition will be due at the beginning of the course in order to receive the course outline.   It is required that course work be completed as closely as possible to instructor deadlines.

Q.     Is there much homework?
A.    There are required textbooks for all courses, and select courses require a 6-page paper for Certificate track students. All courses have an exam given during the last session.  Since students can focus on one course per month this may be easily accomplished.  Note: Audit students are not required to write papers or take exams.

Q.     If I am an Audit student may I upgrade to the Certificate track?
A.    Yes.  All exams and papers per course must be completed and the difference between Audit and Certificate tuition must be paid at that time.

Note: Audit students are permitted to complete exams and papers during a course if there is a possibility of future upgrade.

Q.    May I sit in on classes without paying tuition?
A.    There is a one-time introductory special for current students to invite a Friend for Free. Only students who have never attended ECBI may attend 1 course through Friend for Free, and they must participate in a Program 1 course.  Following that, the student must pay tuition.

Q.    May I purchase books from another source?
A.    Yes.  However, if you intend to purchase your book elsewhere, please check with your Instructor to verify that there are no changes to his/her requirements.  Also, you must inform ECBI so we do not purchase a book for you in our regular textbook order.  Textbooks for ECBI students are discounted, and it is unlikely that you would find a more economical source.

Q.    Why do the weekly sessions run for three hours?
A.    In order to help students schedule class time into busy weekly schedules, we concentrate instruction into one longer evening.  There are breaks between sessions.

Q.    I plan to attend a State University. Will these classes transfer or meet state requirements?
A.    No.  ECBI is a Certificate Program designed to provide foundational teachings for personal growth and preparation for individual ministry opportunities.  Since the course work is part of the curriculum accepted by Life Christian University, students may write directly to the LCU Campus to matriculate any course work, which may be utilized toward a future degree issued by Life Christian University in Tampa, Florida.

Q.    Do you cancel class when the weather is bad?
A.    It is rare that class would be canceled.  If you are unable to travel to class, you may purchase the CD and study independently.  If it is necessary to cancel class, you will be notified by phone between 3:00-3:30 p.m.  Please use your judgment concerning safe travel.  If you decide to travel to class during bad weather, please check your phone messages before leaving home. Also, please inform the ECBI office of any changes to your phone numbers.
